SSFC takes on Wichita Wings II in an I-35 showdown in MASL III

Updated: Dec 23, 2020

Sunflower State FC looks to bounce back into the win column against the newly formed Wichita Wings II to keep pace with leaders Omaha Kings and Springfield Demize.

SSFC continue their road trip as the game will take place at Hartman Arena in Park City KS. Where fans will now be allowed (up to 250 people). In the opening game of MASL III, Sunflower State opened up with an 8-4 loss to Springfield Demize with second half goals coming from Girma Kassa (2), Wyatt Fowler, and Ruairi Cotter.

Coach Nick McDonald was pleased with the organization and the build-up during that game but stated SSFC shot themselves in the foot from not finishing their chances and allowing a talented, organized Demize too many opportunities to strike on the counterattack. He was also encouraged from both goalies, Jose Camberos who started the second half and had 6 saves and Youth RISE GK Tito Favella who made 5 saves.

The Wings, another new addition to MASL III, are playing as a developmental team to the first team playing in MASL II. The Wings played their first game December 19, 2020 against the Omaha Kings FC where they lost 3-5.
